How to Join the Abbotsford Angels AGM
November 2, 2026

The Abbotsford Angels AGM is the annual meeting where AMBA members can help shape the club’s future. On Nov. 23, members will vote on board positions and constitutional changes, review financial reports, enjoy refreshments and prizes, and learn how to volunteer or serve on the Board.

The Abbotsford Angels AGM takes place:

  • Date: Nov. 23
  • Time: 6:30–8:30 PM
  • Location: Abbotsford Recreation Centre, Room 2/3

This is a great opportunity for players’ families, coaches, volunteers and other AMBA members to connect, ask questions and help guide minor baseball in Abbotsford, BC.

Whether you have attended an AGM before or this is your first one, you are welcome. Come ready to listen, participate and meet other people who care about creating a positive baseball experience for local youth.

What happens at the Abbotsford Angels AGM?

The meeting will focus on the decisions, updates and opportunities that help keep the club strong. Members can expect:

Board elections

Board elections give members a direct voice in who helps lead the organization. The Board works together to support programs, plan for the season and make decisions in the best interests of AMBA athletes and families.

Financial reports

Financial reports provide an overview of the club’s finances, including how funds are managed and how resources support baseball activities. Reviewing these reports helps promote transparency and accountability across the organization.

Constitutional vote

Members will also consider a vote on the constitution. Constitutional documents help define how the association operates, including governance, responsibilities and decision-making processes. Your participation matters because these rules shape the club’s future.

Refreshments and prizes

The AGM will include refreshments and prizes, making the evening a little more enjoyable. Stay for the full meeting, connect with fellow members and take part in the community atmosphere.

For other important club dates, visit the AMBA Important Dates page.

Why should members participate?

An AGM is more than a formal meeting. It is one of the clearest ways for members to understand what is happening within the club and contribute to its direction.

Your participation can help AMBA:

  • Make informed, member-supported decisions
  • Maintain strong governance and financial accountability
  • Recruit volunteers with useful skills and fresh ideas
  • Improve programs and experiences for young athletes
  • Build a more connected baseball community

You do not need to be a long-time volunteer or baseball expert to attend. Questions, feedback and encouragement from members all help create a healthier organization.

If you are interested in volunteering in another capacity, explore the Volunteers page for more information and ways to get involved.

Who is being nominated for the Board?

Board nominations close on Nov. 14 . The open positions are:

  • President
  • Vice-President 1
  • Director 2
  • Treasurer
  • Director 3

If you have leadership experience, organizational skills, financial knowledge, community connections or a desire to support youth baseball, consider putting your name forward.

You do not have to do everything alone. Board members work as a team, share responsibilities and collaborate with coaches, volunteers, families and other club partners.

What does the AMBA Board do?

The Board provides leadership and oversight for the association. While responsibilities may be shared across directors, Board members generally help with the following:

Supporting the club’s mission

AMBA’s mission is to provide minor baseball to the youth of Abbotsford, BC. Board members help ensure that programs and decisions continue to reflect that purpose.

Planning and governance

The Board helps establish priorities, review policies and make decisions that support the club’s long-term success. It also helps ensure the association follows its constitution and applicable requirements.

Managing finances responsibly

Directors contribute to responsible budgeting, financial oversight and reporting. The Treasurer plays a key role, but financial responsibility is important for the full Board.

Supporting programs and volunteers

The Board helps create the conditions for coaches and volunteers to succeed. That may include reviewing needs, improving communication, supporting equipment and facilities, and helping plan future seasons.

Communicating with members

Strong communication keeps families informed and helps the club respond to questions, concerns and opportunities. Board members listen to the community and help share important updates.

How can you nominate yourself or someone else?

Submit a nomination before the Nov. 14 deadline using the official nomination form:

Submit a Board nomination

Before completing the form, consider the position that best matches your interests and experience. You may also wish to speak with other AMBA members about the role and the time commitment involved.

A nomination is a practical way to support the club, even if you are not sure whether you will ultimately serve. Asking questions early can help you understand the expectations and prepare for the AGM.

What should you know before volunteering for the Board?

Board service is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference, but it also comes with shared responsibilities. Prospective nominees should be ready to:

  • Attend Board meetings and the AGM
  • Review information and participate in decisions
  • Communicate respectfully with members and fellow directors
  • Follow the club’s constitution, policies and procedures
  • Put the interests of AMBA athletes and the association first

The right candidate is not necessarily the person with the most experience. Reliability, teamwork, good judgment and a genuine commitment to youth baseball are valuable qualities.

If you would like to learn more about club policies and governance-related information, visit Documents and Policies .

How can you prepare for the AGM?

A little preparation can make the evening more useful and engaging:

  1. Add Nov. 23, 6:30–8:30 PM to your calendar.
  2. Plan to arrive at Abbotsford Recreation Centre with enough time to find Room 2/3.
  3. Review any meeting information shared by AMBA before the event.
  4. Think about questions you would like to ask about finances, programs or the constitution.
  5. If you are interested in serving, submit your nomination by Nov. 14.

Members who cannot attend should review any available follow-up information and stay connected through AMBA communication channels.
