The AAHA believes that generally, players should play in the division with other kids the same age. As such, most kids should not be moving up to play as underage players in a higher division.
There are exceptions. In some, relatively few, cases, it is in the best interests of the child to play up a division as an underage player.
Parents of players who wish to play up as underagers in a higher division MUST APPLY IN WRITING to the Division Commissioners.
An assessment of the child’s ability will be made.
Each division may have a slightly different process. You need to check with the Division Commissioner.
The goal is to make a decision that is in the best interests of the child.
11U Mosquito Division
Underage players who wish to play up in Mosquito must:
- Apply in writing to the Commissioner
- Attend the Mosquito Player Assessments
The general rule of thumb is that a player should score within the top 20% of his/her age group AND/OR have a realistic expectation of playing summer baseball. Special circumstances may be considered and should be included in your application to the Commissioner.
