President’s Report 2015

The report from Dan Dick, AAHA President, presented at the 2015 AGM:

President’s Message:

Firstly, I would like to thank all of my fellow Executive members for their countless hours of hard work and dedication that have made the AAHA what it is today. Secondly, many thanks go out to the umpires and coaches that work so hard at putting a great product on the field. Lastly, but definitely not least thanks to the parents and players within the association for all of their efforts in playing the game.

Thank you for allowing me to serve as the President of this association for the past twelve months. I think that we as an association and more specifically the executive have had a very successful year.

Some of the more notable accomplishments of the AAHA over the past twelve months would include but not be limited to the following:

  • Strengthened partnership with the Abbotsford Cardinals in the use of their batting cage facility as well as using some of their personnel in our evaluations.
  • Winter workouts for all divisions were very well attended.
  • Summer ball we had 8 out of 9 teams qualify for the provincials.
  • Bantam AAA won their qualifier and earned trip to Milwaukee
  • Bantam AA won their qualifier and earned trip to Federal Way
  • Our umpires continue to get the training that they need and continue to be the best in the province.
  • Our coaches continue to get necessary training and support to constantly be improving.
  • Further improved relations with the City
  • More and more information is being posted on our website and more and more people are using it.

Some areas that we are working on for 2016 include:

  • Restructuring the Executive to include more volunteers as well as delegate more of the work. (“Many hands make for light work”)
  • Continue to improve relations with the City to improve our fields
  • Apply to host a provincial tournament
  • Develop guidelines for import players
  • Develop Codes of Conduct expected of players, coaches and parents.
  • Develop more training aids for coaches at the younger levels.

I believe that it is my mandate as president to improve the association on a go forward basis. We need to improve the experience for the kids so that they will continue to come back and play this game that we all love so much.

I look forward to working with all of you again in 2016.

Sincerely,

Dan Dick
