In the American League Championship game that went at Lions Park first, the #3 seed triumphed over the #4 seed. M’s Coaches assert that  a key element of the game was the pitching duel between Nick Rabinovitch and Treyson Smith, both 1st Year players and both the sons of the Head Coaches of either team! The Mariners took the game 12-7 over the Jays.

The National League Championship game went next, and it proved to be a thriller. Pirates coaches raved that “this was one of the best games they have ever been a part of.” Both the Pirates and Nationals battled hard, but the #1 seeded Pirates prevailed 8-7.  Highlights included a Double Play by Tyler McInnes and an amazing acrobatic catch in CF by Maguire Wakelyn, robbing the Nats of at least 2 runs. The play of the game came in the bottom of the 6th with the score tied. After Connor Krahn doubled and then stole 3, he ran home on an error to score the  winning run in dramatic fashion!

The Nationals and the Blue Jays will battle for the Mosquito Plate next Saturday prior to the Mosquito Cup Championship Game featuring the M’s and Pirates.

In the Mosquito Bowl competition, the Giants, Phillies, Red Sox and Orioles all advanced to the next round, while the Reds, Padres, White Sox and Yankees will battle for the Mosquito Shield.
