Pirates Dominate Braves

Mosquito Pirates

Pirates 16
Braves 7
It was a beautiful sunny Wednesday night at Lions Park for a much anticipated match-up between the Pirates and the Braves. With the Pirates coming off of 2 losses and some rain-outs, they definitely had their game-faces on ready for a victory! There was no doubt about this one, the Pirates came READY! Leading off on the mound was Pirates 1st-yr pitcher Landon Wakelyn. He put forth his best performance of the season thus far, keeping the Braves to 3 runs in 2 innings, and with that earned himself the Pita Pit player of the game award. For the Braves it was Conner Krahn with some big hits to threaten some offence.

The bats were hot for the Pirates, and leading the offensive charge were Ryan Johnson and Malcom Davey, both with some solid hitting!  The Braves threatened to come-back in the 4th, but with 2 outs and the bases loaded, Tyson Ashton came in with a big strike-out to end all hopes for the Braves. Tyson closed the game out with 3 strike-outs in the 5th with his best pitching performance of the season. Look out, the Pirates are coming…Aarrrgh!
