Angels Fly High at Lions Park

Wall Street
Wall Street: Chase Vandermeulen

Mosquito AAA 11U Tier 2
Abbotsford Angels 14
Aldergrove Dodgers 13

Tuesday night brought out fans from both Abbotsford and Aldergrove to watch our Mosquito AAA Tier 2 teams take the field at Lions Park.

Abbotsford got off to a shaky start finding themselves down 7-0 to the visiting Aldergrove Dodgers heading into the bottom of the second.

The rally started when Garrett Ostrom stepped up to the plate and bounced one over the fence in center field for a ground rule double. The rally continued with big bats by Evan Booker hitting a triple and Chase Vandermeulen notching a pair of doubles throughout the contest.

Reliever Nolan Watrin took to mound in the third and fourth innings holding the Dodgers back to only one run. Watrin tallied 4 strike outs over their ten batters in the two innings pitched.

Aldergrove managed a late rally, but strong defensive plays by Bones Coleman, Jake Davenport and Vandermeulen held them at bay.

Closing Pitcher Chase Vandermeulen stepped in to shut down the Dodgers late in the top of the sixth. Up by only one run, Vandermeulen was “all business” catching a line drive and notching a strike out with the last two batters he faced, living up to his nickname “Wall Street”.

Your Abbotsford Mosquito AAA Tier 2 team currently sits with a record of 3-1 as we move into the back half of our eight game schedule working towards a spot in the Provincials.

Join us at Lions Park on Saturday, July 18th as your Abbotsford Angels AAA Tier 2 team takes on the Victoria Eagles in a Double Header; first game starts at 1pm.
